HISTORY OF ITS INCEPTION

As we all know that in the decade of 1970, there inhabited (thronged) in Bhayandar village, a mixed mass hailing from Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati speaking people. At that time in Bhayandar, there were schools which imparted education only in Marathi language. As a result, Hindi and Gujarati speaking parents had no choice but to send their children outside Bhayandar – towards Mumbai (Borivali) in Hindi Medium schools. Lack of proper means of travel made traveling more difficult for them.

Taking into account, this lack of facility, in November 1981, Bhayandar Kelwani Mandal was established. Late Shri Purushottambhai Patel came forward to donate a piece of land absolutely free of cost. At the same time, Shri Tejpalji Poddar came forward to support financially for the establishment of the school. As a result, J.H. Poddar High School was established by Bhayandar Kelwani Mandal, on the auspicious day of 1 st July, 1983; which we proudly celebrate as our Foundation Day.

The School commenced in a small courtyard of Jain Bhavan with Hindi and Gujarati Mediums. For the first time the school appeared for the 5 th and 8 th class (Secondary Section) for both the mediums. It’s first ever batch of SSC was in the year 1986.

On Popular demand from residents of Bhayandar, English Medium was also started. On 1 st June 1987, Primary section was started in both the mediums.

In the academic year 2004-05, Junior College of Science and Commerce was inaugurated. In this way slowly and gradually, J.H. Poddar High School stands tall with students receiving education from play group to primary to secondary to Jr. College of Science and Commerce. The School has walked on the path of progress due to the sincere efforts put in by Bhayandar Kelwani Mandal’s Trustees, Committee members, Principals and experienced teachers support. The progress still continues and will remain in continuation with time.
